How many cards are in a deck of cards?
A standard deck has 52 cards. They split into four suits: hearts, diamonds, clubs, and spades, with 13 cards in each suit. Every suit runs from ace through 10, then the three face cards: jack, queen, and king. Two of the suits are red (hearts and diamonds) and two are black (clubs and spades), so the deck holds 26 red and 26 black cards.
Many packs also include two jokers, which brings the total to 54, but jokers sit outside the four suits and most games leave them out. The single-player games on this site, like Klondike and FreeCell, all use the 52-card deck with the jokers removed.
